Heybridge Painting “Summer Walk to Heybridge Basin, Maldon”
Original Heybridge painting “Summer Walk to Heybridge Basin, Maldon” shows a typical sunny afternoon at Heybridge Basin where it’s very popular to wander along the canal path to the estuary for a superb cream tea at Tiptree Jams cafe overlooking the estuary or enjoy a drink and a meal at The Jolly Sailor.
This is part of my growing catalogue of original paintings depicting my new(ish) home and forms part of my first exhibition of ten new original paintings. It is my first response of my experience exploring the locale over the last few years. Maldon is a such lovely town with many places of interest making it a really lovely day out from the history of the ancient buildings to beauty of the countryside here in Heybridge – unique to this part of Essex. I often visit and walk along the sea wall here and at high tide Jasper Spaniel enjoys a swim.
The navigation runs from Springfield Basin in Chelmsford to the sea lock just along from here at Heybridge Basin near Maldon. It has six bridges and drops 75 feet (23 m) through 12 locks from the basin to the sea. There is also a set of flood gates at Beeleigh, which prevents water from the River Blackwater flooding the cut to Heybridge Basin. The navigation meanders in a broadly west to east direction between Chelmsford and Maldon, through countryside. You can hire rowing boats or a sunset cruise here at the Heybridge Basin Pleasure Boats hut just behind the cyclist here.

Original Painting “Summer Walk to Heybridge Basin, Maldon has been created using acrylics on deep edged canvas. Most people choose to hang my work without a frame so you can see the process where I have laid the canvas on the floor and dripped, spilled, and thrown the paint. Tray frames are recommended should you wish have this framed. I can arrange this for you.
